01 · Opening

I first became interested in computer science through a campus data project that mapped public transport delays in my city. The work showed me how small improvements in data systems can change how people move through a place. I now want to study the underlying systems more deeply and build tools that make complex information easier to act on.

02 · Relevant experience

During my final year, I built a lightweight forecasting pipeline for a student research group. I cleaned three years of irregular sensor records, compared two approaches, and documented the assumptions behind each result. The project taught me to treat reproducibility as part of the result rather than as an afterthought.

03 · Programme fit

The MSc in Data Science at the University of Edinburgh appeals to me because its balance of statistical learning and responsible data practice matches the questions I want to pursue. I am especially interested in research that connects reliable models with public decisions. I hope to contribute a practical perspective shaped by working with incomplete data and small teams.

04 · Closing direction

After the degree, I plan to work on data products for public-interest organisations, where technical clarity and careful communication matter as much as model performance. This programme would help me turn my experience into a more rigorous way of asking, testing, and explaining questions.
